Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul stormed into town at the Playstation Theater and spent the next two and a half hours blowing the roof off the 2100 seat venue.
Steven Van Zandt is a guitar player from the Asbury Park era of Rock ‘n Roll history with a long and storied pedigree. Usually he is found standing next to Bruce Springsteen playing guitar in the E Street Band offering backup and harmonies to the Boss.
But tonight Bruce was down the street with his own solo show, so Steven was here with his 13 piece show band behind him.
Brass Section, drums, keyboards, percussion, and a backup trio singing and dancing all night long. These guys are blues jammers and they did just that.
Not as familiar with the music of the Disciples of Soul, we weren’t up on our feet for the full show singing lead on each tune. That didn’t keep us from seat dancing. Thank you Disciples.
